Hello hello hello and welcome to my world of all things crazy, outlandish and down right wanderlusty.

Natalie Campbell-ReidMy name is Natalie and I am one of the many crazies who is still setting up a blog in 2017. Why you ask? As a child I always really loved writing. You wouldn’t catch me anywhere without my little notebooks. As my creative outlet, I loved dreaming up new stories and characters on breaks or after school.

As I got older, my writing genie and I parted ways and I became consumed by college and university. Education unapologetically sucked the life out of reading and writing for me, so the last thing I wanted to do in my spare time was write or even worse read more. In more recent years however, I’ve come to a place where I want to get back in touch with my inner creative and voila here we are.

Yeah great but why a travel blog Nat?

Erasmus program montpellier france

University Paul Valery Erasmus 2012/13

Travelling is something that kind of crept up on me during my university years. I caught the proverbial travel bug when I was 20 years old, studying abroad in Montpellier, France. It had been an ambition of mine to study in France since I found out it was an available option to me in college, and thankfully I was able to get onto the Erasmus program to fulfil that ambition.

The travel bug took up permanent residence in my being when I hopped on a flight to Brazil to celebrate New Years Eve on the shores of Rio de Janeiro. I stood on the beach with a group of travellers from my hostel, the atmosphere was almost thick with the excitement of a fresh slate for 2013. Music was going, people were laughing and drinking all around dressed head to toe in white. You could hear the waves breaking against the shore and out in the distance four cruise liners bobbed peacefully in the sea.

Then the countdown began. We popped a bottle of champagne and toasted in the new year as the fireworks exploded above the ocean.  It was one of those moments where you genuinely wish you could have that moment for life. My senses felt inundated and I didn’t want to miss a thing. It’s weird. In that moment I was there and nowhere else. My mind was probably the most present it has ever been and that was it. The inception of an undying love affair with exploration and adventure.

New Year's Eve in Rio De Janeiro Brazil

New Year’s Eve in Rio 2012/13

Now me and my travel bug are besties for life. Since Brazil I have been to Croatia, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Canada, America, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Netherlands, Kenya and Spain. And of course I am continually looking to grow this list. My next dream destination is Cuba, I’m hoping to be able to make it there before the year is out or maybe even for my annual new year’s trip (I’ll keep you posted).

But before I go any further I must admit that I am in fact a nine to six marketer. I am not a footloose and fancy free traveler skipping across countries with only a backpack to my name. I work in London, UK and have done for the past two years. I haven’t allowed that to deter me from travelling though and you shouldn’t either.

I want to hear from you too! How do you keep up with travelling and still maintain your job and even more so how do you make your annual leave stretch to fit your travel needs? Please feel free to post in the comments section or drop me and email in the contact section.

Thanks for taking the time to read about me and I hope to be hearing from you soon
